Mothi Tai and bhaiya are no more but the legacy started by them lives on through the five levels shown in the boxes above. Bhaiya, was a leading lawyer at Allahabad High Court and has friends in the league of Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma ( Former President of India ) and Mr. Katjoo, the then Chief Minister of MP. For the sake of navigation ease, the details of each of the levels and there siblings will be shown at different places.
I write about Dada, (1908 - 1974), as told to me by my mother, father and the sheet anchor of our family ..Tai (She is now no more. She left for the heavenly abode on 15 Sept 2004, in Indore, when she was with her beloved son Shashank). Dada was the elder son of Bhaiya. Dada left the wealthy house of his father and traveled to mandsaur in MP. He was a crusader of kinds, his passion was teaching. Teaching was considered a profession pursued by the lower class , after all the teachers were paid the least, I never believed my father when he mentioned that Dada's salary used to be just over Rs.100/- ( apprx $2 ) until we saw his account books preserved so carefully by his wife i.e. my grand mother Tai. The account book had entries made day after day and down to the last paisa. The die hard habit of tallying accounts to the last paisa was one aspect of his crusade ( possibly ) for perfection. He never stopped any of his children from spending, but instead wanted them to remember where and how much was spent. From mandsaur he moved on to Ujjain and then to my favorite place, Dewas. He became synonymous to teachers training in Dewas and he was single handedly instrumental to bringing a " their own " Teachers Training School Building for the teachers of Dewas. I have seen the building and according to me, for a small town like Dewas, Dada was a big "DADA" personality. He believed in More and More ... no no not money , but education. His catalytic presence carved out a Masters in English Literature each from Tai and Daughter Nandini and so also B.Ed. from my mother Vasudha. I have not seen Dada, but i find Shashank Kaka resembles so much with him. Baba usually recounts his associations with dada during his school and college days at Dewas. Dada and Tai supported a large family always. In their old age, Bhaiya and Mothi Tai lived with him for 18yrs. |
